Alijaa Selects on DSR, Featuring Exclusive Mix of Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Soul on April 04

As part of the DSR double take over morning Denmark Street Radio presents “The Alijaa Take Over Selection”, a unique and exclusive mix of jazz, hip-hop, and soulful tunes curated by Alijaa (AKA Theodore Howarth), a multi-talented singer, songwriter, and producer from the U.K. The broadcast will hit the airwaves at 11 am on Tuesday, April 4th, promising listeners a deep sonic experience. This will follow directly after band mate drummer and producer Ajit Gill’s take over at 10 am.

Alijaa, currently signed to Island Records Italy, has made a name for himself in as a producer and performer, working with a diverse range of artists such as 40 Watt Sun, Deborah Jordan, Jack In Water, and Parthenope. He is also known for founding and playing keys in the U.K. nu-jazz band Vertaal.

Over the past five years, Vertaal has built a solid reputation in the London jazz scene and beyond, receiving accolades from Jazz Refreshed, BBC Introducing, and Amazing Radio. Their impressive track record includes radio play on BBC, Jazz FM, and Worldwide FM, as well as multiple performances at iconic venues such as Ronnie Scotts’ and The Jazz Café. The band released a double LP on vinyl in 2021 and has supported renowned artists like Mark Giuliana, PBug, Richard Spaven, and Reuben James.

For the last two years, Alijaa has been working in Italy on an exciting new project in collaboration with J. Raise, Jr., which is set to be released later this year. The upcoming Alijaa Selection on Denmark Street Radio will give you a taste of his eclectic musical taste and the versatility that has garnered him recognition in the industry.
