DSR Welcomes Renowned Percussionist Sambroso to Its Roster for New Cuban Salsa Show

DSR is thrilled to announce the addition of Oreste Noda, aka “Sambroso”, to the roster. The renowned percussionist and founder of London-based Cuban party tribe Sambroso Sambroso, will be hosting a new regular live event titled “Ska Cubano Entertainment Presents” at The Lower Third, starting on June 1oth 2023.

Listeners can tune in to Sambroso’s new weekly show every Thursday from 7-9 pm and repeating every Sunday from 7-9 pm. Moreover, fans can catch his Cuban Sundays, where he’ll be bringing Cuban Salsa lessons and Social Dance to Juju’s Bar & Stage every Sunday from 4:00 pm onwards.

Oreste Noda was born and raised in Matanzas, Cuba. He began his musical journey as a trombone player and later found his passion for playing the congas. His unique rhythmic abilities quickly made him a go-to conguero in Cuba. Noda’s talent has led him to play with famous names such as Hugh Masekela, Jazz Jamaica All Stars, and Ska Cubano.

In London, Noda is a key member of the Afrobeat-Bangla-Cuban collective Lokkhi Terra, where he visits South Asia to collaborate with some of the subcontinent’s biggest musical names. Noda is also part of the more recent group, Ariwo, a Cuban/Iranian quartet that explores the intersection between electronic and AfroCuban folk music.

Aside from his musical pursuits, Noda is has hosted a series of jam sessions in his Old Street warehouse/home, which quickly became the place to create and hang out, with ‘Noda’s Place’ regularly transforming into a sort of Casa del Cultura. These events were often frequented with Cuban musical legends, including Irakere, Havana d’Primera, Horacio Hernandez, and Ernesto Simpson. His events have been so successful that they have outgrown the warehouse and moved to various venues around London, including the Rooftop Sessions, The Forge and now with “SKA Cubano Presents” coming soon to The Lower Third.

Sambroso’s addition to DSR’s roster is highly anticipated, and listeners are in for a treat with his new regular show. With his vast experience and knowledge of Cuban music, Sambroso is set to bring an exciting and authentic Cuban Salsa experience to the airwaves and to The Lower Third on Denmark Street from June, meanwhile you can catch his Cuban Sunday event every Sunday att Juju’s Bar & Stage from 4:00pm with Cuban Salsa Lessons until 6:00pm that start the Social dance for five hours!
