Location: The Lower Third, 26 Denmark Street, London, WC2H 8NJ

Denmark Street Radio proudly announces an immersive Audio Tour of Denmark Street, affectionately known across the UK as “Tin Pan Alley”. This sonic adventure, taking approximately 40 minutes, promises to be a revelatory experience for anyone intrigued by the pulsating heart of British music history.

DSR is inviting you to join us on a friendly jaunt through the vibrant lanes of Tin Pan Alley. Beyond the gleaming guitar rows and historic facades, we’ll venture deep into the essence of the music industry. Discover the hidden stories of influential figures who’ve shaped pop culture from the bands and artist’s to the figures behind the scenes—those legendary publishers and record label executives whose decisions echoed around the world.

You’ll be on the ground where The Sex Pistols lived and rehearsed, to the studios that vibrated with the first chords of The Rolling Stones and Black Sabbath’s iconic albums, this tour is your backstage pass to the legends of British music. Imagine standing at the very spots where David Bowie met Marc Bolan, or where Elton John first teamed up with Bernie Taupin.

We’ll also pay homage to Donovan, the echoes of Orange Amps, and the birthplace of seminal music publications like NME and Melody Maker. And yes, there’s even a chapter on Paul Simon’s less celebrated moments, where his now-famous tracks faced initial rejection.

The rich tapestry of Denmark Street, established in 1687 and named to honour Prince George of Denmark, has evolved from a hub for ballad printing to the nexus of the British music trade. This street wasn’t just about the notes on a page; it was where aspiring artists and seasoned professionals alike gathered to create and collaborate, contributing to a social landscape as dynamic as the music itself.
