I think we’ve settled in nicely to our newest location at 5 Denmark Street and I for one hope this will be the last move the shop needs to make for a long time. For those that have visited my new spot thank you and for those about to (rock! ahem…) visit then I look forward to welcoming you! I hope to have some new offerings, maybe even Stairway to Kevin merch, to become available during this coming year and on top of that we’re looking at new methods to try and get wait times down for larger jobs. Thank you to all who have been patient with big work, some repairs just take a long time, phew! To those that I couldn’t help, my apologies, and I hope I’ll be able to assist another time.
Going forward it will be £10 to book an appointment to come in and discuss something one-on-one in person or consult online. (Collections and follow-up appointments are still of course free.)
It’s actually really simple and easy; the £10 is included with any work booked in with the Stairway, so you’re not having to pay any extra, and if you’re fortunate enough to get the job done during the actual appointment, then it will count there too!
You can always cancel or move your appointment with the link in the confirmation email, up until 24 hours before the time booked. After that, you can still cancel or move your appointment, but the £10 deposit will be non-refundable. Simple and straightforward!
My apologies for having to introduce this minor additional step, but there are simply too many no-shows and missed appointments now. As flexible as I try and be with my schedule, it’s becoming difficult to manage, and it’s not just your job I miss out on, it’s the ability to book in another one! Thanks for understanding.
I’ll not be in the workshop from March 25 until April 8, but my most excellent colleague Gary will still be around if you need to collect anything.

I’d love to work on your instrument, show you what we do, and get it playing in top shape. With well over twenty years of experience, I’ve worked on thousands of instruments of all types both vintage and modern. There are a lot of varying prices and quality of work out there and I focus on delivering the best. We offer comprehensive services for many different types of problems and below are the prices for some common repairs. My rates are a fairly nominal £70 per hour and please remember, every instrument is in a different condition so the total price will vary depending on how much work is needed. Certain repair services will available by individual estimate. I have clients visit from all across the UK & the world and I love helping my locals in London and the South-East. There is a £10 charge for the initial in-person inspection and estimate (your appointment), but this fee is deducted from any work booked in. All prices are for labour only and any parts are not included unless specified.
