Great news for music lovers! We are thrilled to announce the latest addition to our Denmark Street Radio (DSR) family. Esteemed broadcaster, vinyl aficionado and musical maven, DJ Aviva is set to grace our airwaves, bringing her unique tapestry of sound. We suggest setting a ‘do not disturb’ sign on your Thursday evenings as Aviva’s show, ‘Twitch & Vinyl,’ promises a sonic banquet of House, Funk, New Wave and Punk, served on a platter of black vinyl grooves.

DJ Aviva’s journey in music reads like a melody. The descendant of a musical dynasty, her DNA is laced with the harmonies of Jazz and the rhythms of Sinatra and Prima. Growing up amid the Big Apple’s shimmering skyline, Aviva cut her musical teeth on the robust diet of 80s pop culture. Her personal record collection began swelling at the age of 8, with her parents fuelling her passion for vinyl that’s seen her amass an impressive library of tunes.

From the pivotal days at Nickelodeon, VH1, and MTV to launching TV Land and founding her own entertainment company, Aviva’s illustrious career spans across several decades. Her vast knowledge, garnered through years of producing and booking shows, films, and events, equips her with an unrivalled understanding of the musical landscape.

Aviva’s knack for spinning vinyl has seen her liven up popular clubs like Idlewild and Don Hill’s and electrify events like the NM70 shoe launch and the Gene Simmons/Tongue Magazine Launch. Her vinyl exploits extend to her Twitch shows, where she’s garnered a fervent following by sharing personal anecdotes, expressing her passion for music and pop culture.

In another chapter of her colourful career, Aviva co-created ‘Aquatulle’, a ‘zine that played host to big-ticket names in music and pop culture. The likes of Gary Numan, David Sylvian, and Andy Summers were amongst the many iconic figures that Aquatulle had the honour of interviewing.

The quarantine spurred Aviva to delve into her vinyl collection, using music as a conduit for connection at a time when it was desperately needed. She initially found her audience on Instagram Live, before eventually stumbling upon her tribe on Twitch, where she wove her stories around her carefully curated musical selections.

Steering the helm of Drive Entertainment Group is Raquel Bruno, a seasoned television veteran and gifted multi-media businesswoman. Bruno’s work at Nickelodeon & Nick at Nite, and subsequently, MTV’s big-ticket events, honed her prowess in special events coordination and television preservation. In 2006, she branched out to establish Drive Entertainment Group, offering her clients bespoke attention to detail and a personalised understanding of their needs.

Since its inception, Drive Entertainment Group has left an indelible mark in the industry. From booking and producing the Jennifer Hudson Oscar party to working on the launch event of Xbox 360’s ‘Gears of War’, American Idol, and the documentary Herb Alpert, Bruno has driven her company to the forefront of the entertainment industry.

Now, as DJ Aviva takes up her mantle at DSR, we can only expect the beat to go on. You’re invited to tune in to DJ Aviva’s debut show ‘Twitch & Vinyl’ on Thursday 1st of June at 9-10pm, with a repeat broadcast on Saturday 3rd of June from 5 – 6pm. Anticipate a sonic journey that traverses the realms of music and vinyl, presented by a DJ who breathes life into every groove. Find her at www.twitch.tv/DJAviva.
